How Much Does It Cost to Play Golf in Da Nang?

by AsiaInsider.org

Da Nang is a great place to play golf, but let us kill one fantasy immediately: championship golf here is not cheap.

A round can easily cost US$120–300+ per person, depending on the course, season, day of the week and whether you qualify for local or expat rates. The good news is that you are paying for some genuinely beautiful courses. The bad news is that the golf ball still costs the same when you hit it into the bushes.

1. BRG Da Nang: Around US$150–200

BRG Da Nang Golf Resort is one of the main courses to consider if you are staying in Da Nang.

A realistic budget is roughly:

  • Weekday: US$150–170
  • Weekend: US$180–200+
  • 18 holes
  • Caddie and buggy depending on package

The main attraction is the coastal dune landscape. It feels like a proper seaside golf course rather than a resort that happens to have 18 holes.

My personal view: if you only play one round in Da Nang, this is the type of course I would put near the top of the list.

The location is also convenient, which matters more than people admit. After five hours of golf in tropical humidity, nobody wants another heroic transportation adventure.

2. Ba Na Hills Golf Club: Around US$115–190

Ba Na Hills offers something completely different.

Typical visitor pricing is around:

  • Weekday: US$150–160
  • Weekend: US$190
  • Resident/expat rates can be considerably lower when available

One interesting detail is that Ba Na Hills offers night golf. You can literally play golf after sunset in Da Nang, which is useful during the hotter months.

For expats, this is particularly interesting because resident-card pricing can sometimes bring the cost down significantly compared with standard visitor rates.

My personal opinion: check the resident rate before paying the normal visitor price. Saving close to US$40–50 on a round is considerably more satisfying than pretending the fifth expensive cocktail at the clubhouse was somehow necessary.

3. Montgomerie Links: Around US$115–140

Montgomerie Links is often one of the more reasonable choices for a quality championship course.

Typical promotional rates can be around:

  • Weekday: US$115
  • Weekend: US$135
  • Single buggy may cost extra

It is located between Da Nang and Hoi An, making it especially convenient if you are staying in either area.

My honest take: I would not choose a golf course simply because a famous designer’s name is printed on the website.

Course condition on the day, weather, pace of play and service matter just as much.

Montgomerie can be a very sensible choice if you want a good round without paying Hoiana money.

4. Hoiana Shores: Around US$270–300+

This is where the budget starts getting serious.

Hoiana Shores is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. links-style course near Hoi An.

Current 2026 packages can be around VND 7.5 million, roughly US$285, depending on the package and exchange rate.

The price can include extras such as:

  • 18-hole green fee
  • Shared golf cart
  • Caddie
  • Range balls
  • Food and beverage credit
  • Pro-shop credit

So it is not exactly a US$285 green fee with nothing attached.

Still, it is expensive.

My personal opinion: I would only spend this money if you specifically want the Hoiana Shores experience. If you are simply looking for a pleasant round of golf, cheaper options around Da Nang exist.

The wind is also worth mentioning. Links golf looks beautiful until the wind starts moving your golf ball somewhere you never approved.

5. The Real Cost Is Higher Than the Green Fee

This is where golf advertisements become wonderfully creative with mathematics.

Your actual budget should include:

ExpenseTypical budget
Green feeUS$115–300+
Caddie tipUS$12–20
Food and drinksUS$10–30+
TransportationUS$10–40+
Club rentalAdditional
Total realistic budgetUS$150–350+

For a normal visitor, I would budget around US$180–250 per person for a comfortable day of golf.

For Hoiana Shores or premium packages, US$300+ is perfectly possible.

What About Expats Living in Da Nang?

This is where the economics become more interesting.

If you live in Da Nang, do not automatically buy every round at visitor prices.

Look for:

  • Resident-card rates
  • Weekday promotions
  • Monthly packages
  • Multi-round packages
  • Memberships
  • Twilight rates
  • Seasonal promotions

The difference can become significant if you play every week.

For example, saving US$40 per round when playing four times a month means roughly US$160 saved every month, or nearly US$2,000 a year.

That is no longer pocket change. That is several months of rent in Da Nang, depending on how ambitious your definition of luxury has become.

My Practical Golf Budget for Da Nang

If I were planning a golf trip here, I would think about it like this:

Budget: US$120–160 per round
Montgomerie or promotional/resident rates.

Comfortable: US$160–220 per round
BRG or Ba Na Hills with a decent package.

Luxury: US$250–350+ per round
Hoiana Shores and premium packages.

For three rounds, I would prepare roughly US$500–750 per person, excluding hotel and serious nightlife.

A sensible three-day combination would be:

Day 1: Montgomerie Links
Day 2: BRG Da Nang
Day 3: Ba Na Hills

If money is less important than having the premium links experience, replace Montgomerie with Hoiana Shores.

The bigger advantage of Da Nang is not that golf is cheap. It is that several very different championship courses are close enough to combine with a beach holiday, city life, Hoi An and good food.

And that is probably the real luxury: you can finish a round of golf, eat excellent Vietnamese food for a few dollars, and then spend the evening wondering why you paid US$20 for a golf ball you immediately donated to the ocean.
