Da Nang has reached the slightly strange stage of development where you can rent a perfectly decent apartment for the price of one luxury hotel breakfast, then spend the afternoon looking at resorts where the bathroom is larger than your first apartment.
There are plenty of five-star hotels here, but they are not selling the same thing. Some sell beach access. Some sell privacy. Some sell wellness. Some sell views. And one seems determined to prove that a hotel can also function as an architectural fever dream.
For pure luxury and a genuinely memorable experience, my pick is InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. It sits on Son Tra Peninsula, away from the normal beach-hotel strip, and its combination of setting, architecture, privacy and service makes it very different from simply booking an expensive room in a tall building. Current 2026 luxury-hotel guides also place it at the top of their luxury category.

1. InterContinental: Luxury That Actually Feels Like Luxury
The InterContinental is the hotel I would choose for a special occasion, a first serious luxury stay in Da Nang, or when you want the hotel itself to be part of the trip.
The location is the big difference.
It is tucked into Son Tra Peninsula, surrounded by jungle and overlooking a private bay. You are not stepping outside into traffic, coffee shops and 200 motorbikes fighting over three meters of road.
You are basically entering another world.
The resort was designed by Bill Bensley, whose approach is considerably more theatrical than the usual international hotel formula. The architecture moves down the hillside in different levels, and the design mixes Vietnamese references with an almost deliberately extravagant visual style. Current reviews continue to highlight the design, privacy and setting. (Tripadvisor)
My honest opinion: this is probably the closest thing Da Nang has to a true destination hotel.
But there is a catch.
You are giving up convenience.
If your plan is to spend every evening eating street food, visiting bars, working from cafes and exploring central Da Nang, staying here means you are constantly traveling in and out of Son Tra.
So I would not recommend it automatically just because it is expensive.
Luxury and convenience are not the same thing. Humanity has spent centuries learning this, apparently without taking notes.
2. Hyatt Regency: Better for Living, Not Just Showing Off
Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa

The Hyatt Regency is a completely different proposition.
It sits on Non Nuoc Beach, close to Marble Mountains, and has the space and facilities that make it particularly suitable for families, longer stays and people who actually intend to use their hotel rather than photograph the lobby and disappear.
Current luxury-hotel comparisons highlight its family-friendly setup, residences and villas, while traveler reviews consistently mention the beach, pools and large resort layout. (Tripadvisor)
This is important for expats and long-stay visitors.
If you are spending five or seven nights somewhere, you eventually stop caring about whether the lobby looks spectacular.
You care whether the room is comfortable.
You care whether the breakfast is good.
You care whether the pool is crowded.
You care whether your children are destroying your nervous system.
You care whether you can get a Grab without waiting 25 minutes.
My personal view: Hyatt makes more sense than InterContinental for a longer family holiday.
It is less theatrical, but more practical.
And practical luxury is underrated.
3. Furama: The Old Money Option
Furama Resort Danang

Furama has been around long enough to have something newer luxury resorts cannot buy immediately: history.
It is one of Da Nang’s classic luxury beachfront resorts, sitting on Bac My An Beach and close enough to the city that you do not feel exiled from civilization.
Current 2026 listings still place Furama among Da Nang’s major luxury resorts, and Tripadvisor reviews show a large base of repeat guests. (Hotelier’s Choice)
The interesting thing about Furama is that it does not try desperately to look futuristic.
There is a more traditional resort atmosphere here.
For some people, that is exactly the point.
The unpopular opinion: if you want cutting-edge architecture and Instagram drama, Furama is not going to beat InterContinental.
But if you want a classic tropical resort where you can walk to the beach, swim, eat, relax and avoid thinking about anything important for several days, it makes a lot of sense.
Sometimes luxury is simply having nothing demanding your attention.
4. TIA Wellness: Luxury for People Who Are Tired of Luxury
TIA Wellness Resort

TIA is the interesting one.
It is not really competing with InterContinental on spectacle. Its focus is wellness, privacy, villas and a slower style of luxury.
Current 2026 guides identify TIA as the specialist option for wellness-led stays. (Roavara)
This matters because luxury travel is changing.
A lot of wealthy travelers already have nice restaurants, nice cars and nice apartments.
What they increasingly want is sleep.
A massage.
A quiet pool.
A few hours without somebody asking for something.
TIA is designed around that idea.
My personal opinion: if you are exhausted from work or business, I would seriously consider TIA over a more glamorous resort.
The ability to do absolutely nothing for three days is an underrated luxury.
Your inbox will survive.
Probably.
5. The Hotel I Would Choose for Living in Da Nang
Here is where things get more interesting.
If you are not coming to Da Nang for a two-night luxury holiday, but are thinking about living, working or spending several weeks here, my answer changes.
I would not automatically choose InterContinental.
I would look at properties closer to the main city and beach areas, depending on budget and lifestyle.
Meliá Vinpearl Danang Riverfront, for example, gives you a very different experience from a secluded beach resort. You are beside the Han River and much closer to the urban side of Da Nang.
That means restaurants, cafes, bridges, nightlife, supermarkets and normal city life are easier to reach.
And this is the part hotel advertisements tend to forget:
A beautiful hotel can become boring if you have to take a car every time you want a coffee.
For a short honeymoon, that may not matter.
For someone considering Da Nang as a new home, it matters enormously.
So Which Luxury Hotel Should You Actually Choose?
For the ultimate luxury experience: InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
For families and longer resort stays: Hyatt Regency.
For classic beachfront luxury: Furama.
For wellness and switching your brain off: TIA Wellness.
For city living and exploring Da Nang: Meliá Vinpearl Danang Riverfront.
And there is one more important distinction.
If you are visiting Da Nang for the first time and have only two or three nights, I would choose a hotel that gives you access to the city.
If you have five to seven nights and want the hotel to be the destination, the secluded resorts become much more attractive.
That sounds obvious.
It is apparently not obvious, because people routinely book beautiful hotels 30 minutes away from everything and then spend their holiday complaining about taxis.
The Little Luxury Secret About Da Nang
Da Nang’s biggest advantage is not that it has one spectacular luxury hotel.
It is that you can choose between completely different versions of luxury within a relatively small area.
Jungle and private beach on Son Tra.
Long sandy beaches around Non Nuoc.
Classic resorts around Bac My An.
Wellness retreats near the southern beach area.
And the Han River if you prefer actual city life.
That gives Da Nang something cities like Bangkok or Singapore cannot quite replicate: you can be living in a functioning city and still reach serious resort territory surprisingly quickly.
So if someone asks me for the single top luxury hotel in Da Nang, I would send them to InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
But if someone asks me where they should live, work, raise a family, or spend a month discovering whether Da Nang could become their new home, I would not send them there automatically.
Because the best luxury hotel is not necessarily the best place to live.
And after a certain point, having a private beach becomes less important than having a decent coffee shop five minutes from your front door.
